Sneaky burritos make for tasty lunches
Restaurant review: The Well Dressed Burrito
1220 19th St., N.W.

The Palm may be the most powerful lunch spot in Washington, but the Well Dressed Burrito, within spitting distance, is the most hidden.
Located down an alley north of M Street between 19th and 20th, the WDB may be tucked out of sight, but it still draws crowds.
The tiny service area churns out well-prepared Mexican food, from tacos and nachos to burritos and enchiladas. A handful of daily specials are penned on a board near the bustling counter, and the friendly staff are happy to offer suggestions.
You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but remember that nachos and crispy tacos don't travel well. Instead, try out one of the burritos; the marinated beef and chicken versions are both tasty. And you might be surprised by the specials, which often venture outside the norm. Portions are very generous.
There are a few tiny tables, but the WDB doesn't squander resources on atmosphere; the line often snakes into every spare space and the ordering hubbub isn't conducive to chatting.
Remember to watch the clock. The WDB opens at 11:45 a.m. and closes at 2:15 p.m., and can be quite crowded during the noon hour. (And watch for alley traffic when you leave; the blind stairs are an insurance claim waiting to happen.)
