Restaurant review: Casey's Coffee
2000 L Street NW Washington, D.C.
(202) 530-8897

This coffee shop serves up a pretty good lunch on the go, and their coffee isn't too shabby either.

Of special note: the smoked gouda and turkey sandwich. It's a tasty combination of turkey and cheese, roasted red pepper, fresh spinach and honey mustard. Beware of the all-veggie sandwiches, they have trouble holding their shape.

The salads are also high on the quality scale, easily comparable to Cosi for a couple bucks less. There is a wide range of breads for the sandwiches, and the salads come with a complementary roll; they often forget to toss one in the bag so make sure to check.

There is also a pick-two deal, offering a half salad, half sandwich, and/or a cup of soup. Another plus for those with a thermostat set down low: year-round ice coffee.

Bottom line: A great, quick lunch and better-than-average joe.
